Checking in

The deck

  • BYO sheets, pillowcases and towels.
  • Power might be off. Turn on the mains switch at the meter board (the circuit switch on the far left).
  • The water meter might be turned off when you arrive. It is located near the north-east corner of the block (i.e., to the right of you if standing in front of the house facing the road under a shrub).
  • Gas might be turned off. Don’t touch the gas bottles. To turn on the gas hot water check the touch pad on the laundry/bathroom wall inside the house. If it is off, press the green button (make sure the electricity is on first). It should read 50 degrees.

Checking out

Make sure all fires are extinguished. NB: Fires are FORBIDDEN during summer months.

Please put your rubbish in the small red sulo bin in the yard. The larger yellow bin is for recyclables: paper, plastic, metal. The green bin is for decomposable food scraps, coffee grounds, meat, vegetables, etc (please use the green bin liners in the kitchen). If you separate your waste the bins will be sufficient for your needs. Bins are emptied on Wednesday mornings. Put out on a Tuesday night. Recycling is emptied bi-weekly or weekly during peak season.

  • Please vacuum and sweep/mop the floors (the vacuum cleaner is on the deck in the cupboard)
  • Wash and return all dishes and cutlery to cupboards
  • Wipe down the shower
  • Clean the toilet, oven and microwave and the BBQ.
  • Fold all blankets and put them away in the cupboards
  • Put out the rubbish (if a Tuesday—rubbish is collected on Wednesdays). If not a Tuesday leave the rubbish bin where it is. Recycling is collected bi-weekly.
  • Turn off water and hot water ONLY if it was off when you arrived.
  • Turn of electricity ONLY if it was off when you arrived.
  • Return keys to person who gave them to you
