• The house operates using energy efficient light-bulbs. However, to save energy please turn off all lights that are not being used. Please NOTE: It is easy to forget to turn off the external lights.
The majestic beach at night
  • The house is also equipped with water saving shower heads. Please use water sparingly.
  • There is a 18000 litre water tank in the backyard. This was installed in January 2008. Rain water is plumbed to the toilet, hand-basin and washing machine (BUT NOT the internal shower or kitchen). This makes Anembo very environmentally-friendly in terms of water use. When full it is unlikely that the tank will empty, however, in the rare event that it does , i.e., in a power failure, when the pump does not work, mains water can be restored to these facilities with two switch levers under the eastern side of the house (move each lever in the opposite direction to their present position). See separate document Anembo Cottage Utilities (attached). NOTE: You should NOT normally have to attend to this.
  • The tap at the front of the house, and the tap in the back garden are both tank water. The tap on the eastern side of the deck is mains water. Please use appropriately. For example, fill any kid’s swimming pools you might have with tank water. Feel free to use our tank water for whatever purpose you require, e.g., car washing, hosing down beach equipment, etc. (NB: Note that when the tank is nearly empty there is sometimes not enough gravity to assist in pumping the water to the external shower and it can be slow. This can be remediated by switching to mains water. If you have to do this see: Anembo Cottage Utilities).
