The great thing about Anembo is its quietness and proximity to the beach. At the same time, it is not so close to the beach that you are bothered by traffic, or the sometimes-noisy holiday makers that cruise the Esplanade. It’s like living in your own forest near to the beach.

Here are a few enjoyable things to do in and around the house:

The hot outdoor shower
  • Have a hot outdoor shower. The experience of being naked amongst the gum trees is a rare delight in our stressful, fast-paced modern world, and is very refreshing. Try it!
  • Take a book or magazine down to the Secret Garden seating area at the end of the garden and read all day, or laze on the deck on the sofa. Listen to the wonderful birdlife.
  • Take your kids up to the small playground at the western end of Beacon Court (2 mins walk).
  • Take a walk to the nearest beach only 2-3 mins walk away. Fossick in the rocks during low tide.
  • Walk up the Ayr Creek track and back.
  • Do a loop walk from Beacon Court, via Evergreen Avenue to the beach and back. Come back via Beach Avenue, crossing Ayr Creek en route to Anembo.
  • Fish for bait in Ayr Creek. It is known to have eels. Then hire some rods and go fishing!
  • Do a short walk around the new housing development towards the surf beach and Eagle’s Nest. Walking to Eagle’s Nest is a serious day trip, but if you are keen, walk along the beach and explore The Caves en route.
  • Walk to Flat Rocks and the dinosaur diggings (allow an hour there and back). See Around Inverloch.
  • Walk to town (only 15-20 minutes) along the beach road taking advantage of the exercise equipment en route. Walk back via the quiet township backstreets.
  • Walk the Screw Creek Trail. Head to the Inverloch township via the beach or the foreshore walking track to the camping ground on the western edge of Inverloch. Walk through the camping ground. Keep going. You will see the signs. This is a nice boardwalk trail with beautiful views to Wilson’s Prom and Anderson’s Inlet.
  • Walk to the new RACV resort past Flat Rocks (allow at least an hour there and back). It’s a nice place for a coffee/food with panoramic views of Anderson’s Inlet. Have Devonshire tea, or something stronger.
  • If you have kids check out the Bookhouse and Fairy Garden a short walk from the house–the creation of a local resident. Other local street libraries for adults are at Ebor Avenue off Veronica Street, and the beach end of Norman Road. Take a free book, or–even better–share the love by dropping a book off as well.
The ‘Secret Garden’
  • Walk up Cashin Street towards the Inverloch industrial area and Bass Highway. Have a coffee at the new Bluette or a wine at Dirty Three Wines and spend some time in Bear Street Art Hub. There are also some second-hand stores to explore.
  • Go for a bike ride around the new estates both back from the road to Eagles’ Nest, and out towards Screw Creek.
  • Take a long, lonely walk on the superb beach in either direction. It’s wild, moody, and ever-changing.
