Inverloch can be reached easily by road and public transport.
By Car:
To get there from Melbourne take the Princess Highway and turn off onto the South Gippsland Highway. Continue on to Tooradin and Grantville. Leave the South Gippsland highway for the Bass Highway and continue past the Phillip Island turnoff and on to Wonthaggi. Inverloch is 12 km from Wonthaggi and clearly signposted.
Another more scenic route through the Gippsland hills is provided below. This route passes through Pakenham and the small attractive village of Loch.
The house is at 18 Beacon Court, Inverloch (formally known as 21 Beach Avenue West).
About 10km after leaving Wonthaggi — and before you reach the Inverloch township — there is a road on the right called Ullathornes Road. (NOTE: This road is hard to spot if you are travelling fast.) If you reach the Mitre 10 store you have gone to far, but you can still get to the house at the Mitre10 corner at Cashin Street.
If you turn into Ullathornes road in 1.5km there is a “T” junction (Toorak Road). Turn left at this junction. Another 1km along this road there is a road to the right called Evergreen Street (formerly Bass Street). Turn right here. 500 metres down Evergreen Street you reach Beacon Court (formerly Beach Avenue West). Turn left here. The house is 250 metres down the road on the right hand side. It is 13 minutes drive from Wonthaggi.
Alternative routes via Ullathornes and Cashin Streets are provided below.
By public transport
If you don’t have a car there are V-Line buses that run to and from Inverloch from most of the other local towns such as Wonthaggi, Cowes, Leongatha and Korumburra. Buses also run to and from Dandenong, which is on the metro line near Melbourne.
A V-Line rail service also extends from Melbourne to the La Trobe Valley townships (Moe, Morwell, Traralgon, etc) and beyond, so it is possible to visit Inverloch, and leave, by public transport if desired.
You will need a Myki card for travel. This can be obtained from Public Transport Victoria.
Conveniently, the local bus from Wonthaggi passes down Cashin Street, turns close by Evergreen Street which is a short walk to the Cottage (location of red arrow). Tell the driver you wish to get off there. See the grey route below. It returns to Wonthaggi via the purple route shown below.
