Grandma up at 6-30 to take a walk along esplanade and back via Ozone street and Norman road. The modern style of housing gets more and more interesting. It is great to see most gardens are keeping as much natural scrub as possible. Home again to find everybody still asleep – even young Jack.

7/1/07

Erin and Cara up at 7am despite the late night. Ryan slept and extra hour. After a bit of playing around the house, we went to visit the State Coal Mine at Wonthaggi. The kids love the train, the pony and running up and down the hills. Weather overcast and cool. Went to the great playground at the end of the Wonthaggi main street. Had a sandwich lunch. Back to the house, then Sean went Read more…

Arrived at 1pm via a stop at Wonthaggi. Spent the day putting in curtains in bedrooms and living room – picture hooks and other paraphenalia. Jack spent some time playing with young Tahlia from the house on the corner of Ayr creek and Esplanade.

The McCourts arrive about 7PM and we are delighted with the amazing renovations. So much lighter, brighter and spacious looking. Kids played around with Jackson’s toys and didn’t settle to sleep until 9.30pm. Jen went to Safeway, Wonthaggi for some basics. In response to the last set of holiday makers – the rangehood fan does work – it has a little switch 0-1-11-111 on the underside of the rangehood. The fan does not come on Read more…

Gillian, John, Irene and David What a great little jewel we have found in Inverloch! Many evenings spent on the back veranda absorbing the bush sights and sounds. Beautifully appointed and so close to the beautiful beaches. Thank you! On learning about the history of “Anembo”, we feel privileged to be staying in this delightful setting which was the focus of Frank’s hard work and pioneering spirit. John.

Grandma down today taking the route through Nyora, Poowong, Kurumburra to Inverloch. Such lovely scenery! Arrived about lunch time to find Alice undercoating – Jack playing with a neighour’s child – Marty fixing a clothes line in place. Then a man came to take away two loads of wood. Marty and Alice stacked what was left along the fence. Fire restrictions are in place at the moment and perhaps will last until summer is well and Read more…

Our fourth consecutive journey to Anembo Cottage. Restful and tranquil excepting the building across the laneway. Spotted koalas in the gum trees on esplanade and enjoyed daily walks on the beach. Picnic at Shack Bay was great – lovely quiet spot. A lovely vacation spot away from the crowds. Stephen and Beth

15-22/1/22

We spent a lovely week in Inverloch and loved the gorgeous deck with the view of the garden. We saw lots of birds including Kookaburras, Blue Wrens, Eastern Spinebills, Brown Thornbills, Redbrowed Finches, Eastern Yellow Robins, Eastern Rosellas, Wattle Birds, and heard Butcher Birds. There was a cheeky Magpie trying to get some bacon off the BBQ. The butterflies were a highlight, especially the Imperial Zezabels and we loved the Microbats. Thank you for letting Read more…

Renovations. The whole house has been re-arranged – re-plastered – re-wired – re-plumbed re-roofed and better kitchen facilities installed. Have had no time to fit wardrobes or paint architraves before Xmas visitors Please forgive any inconvenience. Between tradesmen, drought, water restrictions for garden watering, not to mention the mess left by the old shed and the locating of the new one – the garden has taken a beating. Please God, the drought will break soon. Read more…

Not quite so cold last night. Men here at 8am to continue building shed. Finished early afternoon. The concrete floor was very muddy, so Marty cleaned that up first. Then he emptied stuff from old shed, and took a trailer of junk to tip.

15/4/06

Down street to see what the Easter Fair had to offer. Very cold and damp. Came home – put on the heater – then I put a damp towel over it to dry – blew the safety switch on the power board! LESSON! Do not put anything on the heater.

2/4/06

Marty and Grandma here to mow grass. Ground very dry although it rained yesterday, Next time we come, hopefully, we will have permission to pull down the old shed and get rid of a lot of rubbish. Very busy down the street could hardly find a parking spot!

13/3/06

Yesterday was very hot, even at the beach, and it was a total fire ban day. Overnight there was a cool change with good rain – excellent for your garden, which was drooping a bit. Thank you for a wonderful long weekend. We hope we can rent your cottage again sometime. Jan, Michael, Richard, Noela and Peter. P.S. Sorry we couldn’t mop the floor. It was raining when we left and your mop needs a Read more…

Dear Alice, That’s O.K. We brought a portable light with us, just in case. The little house is great. We only saw it from the outside before, and were pleased with the inside and how clean it was. What a lovely bushy garden! We are down here for the Jazz Festival, the beach and some fishing.

5/3/06

Marty spreading sand over lawn grass to fill in a few holes. Then a bit of cleaning up. Grandma down about 12.30 and kept busy playing with Jack. Note: Dear Guests, our apology about the outside light that is currently out of order. Please take torch with our compliments. We hope you have a great time and good weather. Regards Alice.

Despite the kids going to bed early and being restless during the night keeping both Sean and I awake, they are up at 7.30 and rearing to go. Marty, Alice and Jack returned to house after two weeks away in Canberra and Jindabyne (via Mallacoota) We drove from the Snowy region via the “Bally Way”- a dirt track mostly. Arrived at Inverloch about 8pm, but Jack saw the Carnival was in full swing, so we had to let him have a few rides. $20 later we arrived at the house. The shed had been broken into (tenants?) for the fishing rod perhaps. We Read more…

Marty, Jack and Grandma down to mow lawn – nice to see how clean Kerry left the house. Jack helped water the photinias – and gave Grandma a bit of a soaking as well. Put out shell wading pool for Jack to play in. Brought down the outside table and chairs from Chelsea. Had our tea on the deck. Weather lovely.

8/12/05

All walked down to town. We had coffee and Grace had an icecream. Walked back along the beach. Very Nice. Bacon and eggs for lunch on B.B.Q., then had a nap. Later, went to beach for a swim, but water very cold, butinvigorating! Fish and chips for dinner – best fish and chips we’ve had in ages.

6/12/05

We thought it was going to be 28deg. Raining on and off, but still warm and muggy. Went to beach in the morning and took a long walk. Phil and Grace had a swim in freezing water. Luckily we went in the morning because it rained all afternoon. Cleared up later, so we had a bar-b-que dinner. Having a great time.

29/10/05

Jenny, Erin, Cara, Ryan and Grandma here to go to the fair. We bought some photinias to make a hedge but nothing more. Last night had a storm with thunder and lightening, but today quite warm. Note for Laura. The heater is a bit suspect at the moment, so if you can avoid using it, I would be pleased. I had it on with the jug and something else and it blew the fuse. Hope Read more…

Marty, Jack and Grandma here to mow grass etc. Tonight will be the first night Jack is going to sleep without his Mum to put him to bed. A beautiful day – Grandma took Jack on their usual little adventure to the playground and then along the beach and in and out of the scrub where we came across an echidna scratching in the sand.

24/9/05

Marty, Jackson and Grandma arrived about 11.30 to mow the grass & check the house. Bathroom window blown open by wind. Alice is staying home to do her tax. Marty brought down more bricks and took a load of junk to the tip. He also sprayed the weeds.

21/7/05

Grandma here again just to check house. Note to Laura. I’ve put the outside mats over railing to dry. There are a couple of outside chairs in green bags in the laundry.
